Leopard 2A6, 212, 2. Fahrzeug, 1. Zug, 2./Panzerbatallion 33, Panzerlehrbrigade 9, Birkenallee, Germany, late ’00s
Next in the line I present a vehicle wearing standard Driefarb- Tarnung, from the famous Panzerbatallion 33, on exercise early on after the vehicle's introduction.
The tank was part of a force exercising in the German Army Combat Training Centre, and in the pictures I have is very grubby going through large lakes of mud.
I've left it here in a relatively spruced condition, though may revisit with the muddy tool at a later date. and also knock back the paint from it's more "freshly applied" appearance.
The vehicle carries taped chevrons on its side, presumably as temporary exercise marks, along with a good set of marks on the rear. These do not include the usual Pzbtn 33 palm, but do include the coat of arms for Brandenburg, with a black crowned eagle holding an orb and sceptre. Presumably this was something perculiar to 2 Kompanie.
Another reason I've kept the vehicle relatively spruced was to work around the way it's implemented to best represent the acutal appearance of a Bundeswehr Leo. As with the French Army's Leclercs and the US Army's Abrahms fleet, there is a template of how camouflage should be applied to their MBTs (and probably other vehicles), with particular patches in particular areas. As there is quite a lot of duplication in this vehicle I've used the combination of the wrap around and direct applied techniques to do this. This creates a bit of limitation on how weathering and such works, but I'm quite happy with the final result, good enough to call it historical in my book anyway!
For those who want the same please follow the following settings to get it properly fitted:
Condition: 100
Scale: 160
Rotation: 0
I do love how this looks in game now, the lighting effects even on my relatively meagre settings look cracking (I try not to do too high so as to get a better representation to those looking).
Next a bit of a tidy to my existing Flecktarn vehicle and something from another country, then a step apart (which won't involve any adjustments!).
